Things To Do In and Around Dubuque IA

Dubuque offers a variety of attractions that celebrate its rich history, scenic beauty, and vibrant culture. Visitors can start with the Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, then explore the historic Mathias Ham House, and enjoy interactive exhibits at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium. The iconic Fenelon Place Elevator Company—also known as the 4th Street Elevator—provides a unique view of the city, while St. Luke’s United Methodist Church is a must-see with its 100 Tiffany stained glass windows. Eagle Point Park, perched on a bluff above the Mississippi River, offers breathtaking views, including Lock and Dam #11. Nature lovers can hike the Mines of Spain State Recreation Area, with ADA-accessible trails and a scenic route to the Julien Dubuque Monument overlooking the river. The John Deere Marsh offers excellent birding and a riverside walk, and Barrel Head Winery is perfect for a local wine experience. Nearby Galena, IL (16 miles away), offers historic sites like the Belvedere Mansion & Gardens and Dowling House, while Dyersville, IA (27 miles from Dubuque), is home to attractions like the National Farm Toy Museum, the Baseball Hall of Dreams, and the famous Field of Dreams Movie Site. Additional highlights in the area include Park Farm Winery in Epworth, the stunning formations of Crystal Lake Cave just south of Dubuque, the scenic trails of Swiss Valley Nature Preserve in Peosta, and the Dickeyville Grotto & Shrines across the state line in Wisconsin. Whether you’re a history buff, nature lover, or looking for unique local experiences, Dubuque and its surrounding towns have something for everyone

We will be visiting the Dubuque IA area for our spring outing in 2025. Check back for more details as they become available.
